Workshop on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

As part of the University of Mosul’s efforts to raise awareness of human rights culture and instill the principles of justice and human dignity in the academic environment, our Center, in cooperation with the Human Rights Unit at the University Presidency, organized a workshop on Sunday, December 14, 2025, entitled:
“The Universal Declaration of Human Rights: Enduring Values for a Changing World.”
The workshop was presented by Asst. Lecturer Mustafa Mushtaq Mohammed and Mr. Ubaida Muthanna Adel, liaison officer of the Human Rights Unit at the University Presidency, and was attended by a number of faculty members and researchers.
The workshop aimed to introduce the core principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, highlight its importance amid rapidly changing global conditions, and discuss ways to promote a human rights culture while linking it to sustainable development and social responsibility concepts.
Key topics covered in the workshop included:
- The origin of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and its main articles.
- Shared human values and their role in building societies.
- Contemporary challenges facing human rights in a changing world.
- The role of academic and research institutions in promoting and strengthening a culture of human rights.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific and awareness activities organized by the University to support humanitarian values and enhance the role of academic institutions in promoting a culture of human rights.
