كلية الصيدلة تشهد مناقشة رسالة ماجستير حول الدور الوقائي للبروبيوتيك في التهابات المسالك البولية

شهدت قاعة السمنار في كلية الصيدلة، يوم الاثنين الموافق 12 كانون الثاني 2026، مناقشة رسالة ماجستير للطالبة زينب عبدالله خليل العلاف، الموسومة:
“التأثيرات المضادة لبكتيريا المكروبات النافعة على البكتيريا الممرِضة للمسالك البولية في نموذج حيواني”.
وتضمنت الرسالة “تقييم التأثير الوقائي للبروبيوتيك ومنتجاته الأيضية ضد التهابات المسالك البولية: دراسة مختبرية وحيوانية”، هدفت إلى تسليط الضوء على فعالية البروبيوتيك في تقليل الاستعمار البكتيري للبكتيريا الممرِضة، وتثبيط تكوين الأغشية الحيوية، فضلاً عن دراسة تأثيره على بعض المؤشرات المناعية المهمة مثل IL-6 و β-defensin-1، بما يسهم في تقديم بدائل وقائية واعدة تقلل الاعتماد على المضادات الحيوية التقليدية.

وفي ختام المناقشة، أثنت اللجنة على الجهد العلمي المبذول في الرسالة، لما تضمنته من نتائج ذات أهمية بحثية وتطبيقية في مجال الوقاية من التهابات المسالك البولية، وتم قبول الرسالة بعد إجراء بعض التعديلات عليها، متمنين للطالبة دوام التوفيق والنجاح في مسيرتها العلمية والعملية.

The College of Pharmacy Hosts a Viva for Master’s Dissertation on the Protective Role of Probiotics in Urinary Tract Infections

On Monday, January 12, 2026, the Seminar Hall at the College of Pharmacy hosted a public viva for a master’s dissertation submitted by the student Zainab Abdullah Khalil Al-Allaf, titled:
“Antimicrobial Effects of Probiotics Against Uropathogens in an Animal Model”
The project involved the evaluation of the protective effects of probiotics and their metabolic byproducts against urinary tract infections (UTIs) through in vitro and in vivo studies. It aimed to investigate the efficacy of probiotics in reducing bacterial colonization and inhibiting biofilm formation. Furthermore, the research examined the impact of probiotics on critical immunological markers, specifically IL-6 and β-defensin-1. Therefore, the study contributes to the development of promising preventive alternatives intended to mitigate reliance on conventional antibiotics.
Examination Committee
The defense was conducted by a specialized committee consisting of:

The committee highlighted the significance of the findings and their practical applications in the prevention of urinary tract infections. The dissertation was officially accepted following minor revisions, with the committee extending their best wishes to the student for continued success in her academic and professional career.
