اتفاقية ثنائية بين جامعة الموصل وجامعة روستك الالمانية
High Ranked Delegation of the University of Mosul visited the University of Rostock (Germany)A high ranked delegation of the University of Mosul visited the University of Rostock (Germany) in the period of 19.-22.9.2012. The delegation, the president of University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Obay Saeed Ahmed AL-DEWACHI, the vice-president, Prof. Dr. Fouad Kasim Mohammad, and the director for science and development, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Khader Ahmad AL-KHAYYATE, visited the University for a working visit. The University of Rostock belongs to the top Universities of Germany which is most active in the research in the field of sciences, especially chemistry, and located at the Baltic sea. At the University of Rostock is located the Leibniz Institute of Catalysis, which is the biggest non-profit research center for applied catalysis in Europe.The University of Rostock has an intensive cooperation with the University of Mosul in the field of chemistry for many years. During the visit of the delegation, a memorandum of understanding was signed by the presidents of the two Universities and by Prof. Langer, who is main protagonist of the cooperation and official representative of Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) at the University of Rostock. It is planned that the cooperation will be extended in the future to other fileds, such as electrical engineering, medicine, nursing and other fields. The main protagonist of the cooperation on the German side is Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Peter Langer, head of the department of organic chemistry. Many scientists of the University of Mosul received their Ph.D under his supervision and he promoted the cooperation between the two Universities by placement of students in different institutes and in many other ways. Prof. Langer is one of the most active scientists in Germany and published about 550 research papers in high ranked international journals. Prof. Langer greatly contributed to the cooperation between Germany and arabic countries. He received several international awards, such as honorary doctorates and medals of several Universities. Together with cultural attaché of Iraq Prof. Dr. Fadhil Al-Ameri, Prof. Langer organized that the University of Rostock was the first University in Germany to sign a memorandum of understanding with MoHESR Iraq.During the visit of the delegation in Rostock, Prof. Dr. Obay Saeed Ahmed AL-DEWACHI awarded the degree of honorary professor (Prof. h.c.) of the University of Mosul to Prof. Langer to acknowledge his contributions. This degree had only been awarded one time before in the history of the University of Mosul.
