University of Mosul President visits the Damaged Areas Fund and receives directives to accelerate support for the university’s projects

As part of the follow-up of the university’s reconstruction projects, Prof. Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, visited His Excellency the President of the Fund for Reconstruction of Affected Areas, Dr. Saad Amin Al-Jubouri, where during the meeting, His Excellency issued urgent directives to accelerate the granting of advances and spare parts orders for the second medical college complex and the electrical engineering department projects at the university.
Details of the projects listed for support:
1. Second Medical College Complex
It includes 5 main buildings, 4 of which are nearing completion with a high percentage of completion, while the deanship building is nearing completion.
The project aims to establish a second medical school in the right side of Mosul, to support advanced medical education and meet the health needs in the governorate.
2. The Department of Electrical Engineering
includes the development of infrastructure and technical equipment to improve the quality of engineering education and keep pace with global developments.
During the meeting, His Excellency Dr. Saad Amin Al-Jubouri issued clear directives to the Fund’s teams to:
1. Overcoming administrative and financial obstacles in front of the two university projects and accelerating the disbursement of financial advances and spare parts orders to ensure the continuation of work without delay.
2. Intensive field follow-up to ensure that the works are carried out according to the required timetables and technical standards.
The President of the University expressed his gratitude for the decisions of the President of the Fund, noting that this step reflects exceptional support for the process of reconstructing the university and enhancing its academic capabilities, and emphasized that the two projects will contribute to raising the quality of medical and engineering education.
This support comes as part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the University of Mosul after the destruction it suffered, as Dr. Al-Ibrahimi had previously inspected the site of the College of Medicine last June and stressed the need to expedite its completion in accordance with international standards
. These projects are scheduled to enter into actual implementation in the coming months, ensuring the return of full academic life to the University of Mosul and reviving its role as a leading scientific edifice in northern Iraq.
