Ibn al-Atheer Printing and Publishing House

The Ibn al-Atheer Printing and Publishing House is one of the key academic and service pillars of the University of Mosul. Established in 1970, it was founded as a specialized university center dedicated to meeting the printing and publishing needs of the University and beyond. Since its inception, it has played a vital role in supporting the academic and scientific journey of the institution by providing essential publications for educational establishments in Nineveh Province. In addition, it extends its services to several other Iraqi universities, including the University of Al-Hamdaniya, the University of Nineveh, the University of Tal Afar, the Northern Technical University, the College of Sahl Nineveh, the University of Kirkuk, and the University of Tikrit, as well as to governmental departments and institutions across Nineveh.

Academic and Service Role

The House produces a wide variety of printed materials, including:
• Academic textbooks and scholarly works.
• Scientific journals and periodicals.
• Administrative records and examination booklets.
• Receipts and official documents.
• Announcements, brochures, and student admission files.
• Certificates, posters, and university IDs.
• Academic binding services, such as theses and dissertations.
It also provides special printing services for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with customized commercial printing upon request. With an annual production estimated in the hundreds of thousands of copies, it stands as one of the largest university printing centers in Iraq.

Infrastructure and Facilities

The Printing and Publishing House is located in a dedicated building within the University of Mosul campus, with a total area of approximately 3,000 m². The two-story facility comprises specialized administrative offices, a production hall equipped with modern printing machines and binding lines, and storage spaces prepared for raw materials and finished products.

Strategic Significance

Ibn al-Atheer is not merely a service unit but a fundamental intellectual and administrative arm of the University of Mosul. By ensuring the timely production of high-quality academic publications, it directly supports the educational process. At the same time, it enhances the University’s autonomy in knowledge production and dissemination, while serving as an economic and service resource that benefits both the University and the wider community.
