Sports Facilities

The University of Mosul is proud to host a comprehensive range of sports facilities, foremost among them the Grand Stadium, inaugurated in 1980 with a seating capacity of 3,000 spectators. Since then, the University has embarked on continuous projects of expansion and development in its athletic infrastructure, leading to the establishment of 12 indoor courts and 10 outdoor fields, all designed in accordance with internationally recognized standards and specifications.
These facilities include seven basketball courts, four handball courts, four futsal courts, three tennis courts, as well as an international wrestling hall, a fencing hall, and a swimming pool affiliated with the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences. Complementing these is a fully air-conditioned multi-purpose hall accommodating 500 spectators, a padel tennis court, and five volleyball courts.
Beyond their physical presence, these facilities embody the vibrant spirit of university life. They provide both male and female students with opportunities to practice and enjoy diverse sporting activities throughout the year. At the same time, they serve as a cornerstone in strengthening the University’s reputation in collegiate athletics through hosting annual tournaments and competitions across various disciplines.
In this spirit, the University has also established a modern guesthouse within the Grand Stadium, with a capacity of up to 100 residents. Fully equipped to accommodate delegations and athletic teams, it is complemented by an on-site restaurant offering essential dining services. Together, these amenities reinforce the University’s sports infrastructure while underscoring its dual academic and social mission.
