University of Mosul Concludes the Second Season of the “Readers’ Challenge” with a Written Test to Promote a Reading Culture in Nineveh

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, the University of Mosul hosted the final written test for the “Readers’ Challenge” competition in its second season, with more than 1,500 female participants from various educational stages, in an inspiring competitive atmosphere reflecting the participants’ passion for knowledge and books.
The test activities were attended by Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat, Head of the Parliamentary Education Committee, and Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul. In their speeches, they emphasized the importance of this cultural project in instilling the values of reading and fostering intellectual awareness among young women. They also praised the university’s role, along with its partners, in reviving the reading movement in Nineveh and supporting initiatives that combine education and culture in building a balanced knowledge-based society.
The “Readers’ Challenge” competition is the largest of its kind in Nineveh Governorate. It aims to revive the spirit of reading, reduce screen time, and create a motivating intellectual and family environment that encourages exploration and research. The competition also prepares outstanding readers for participation in regional and global events.
The total value of the prizes is 10 million Iraqi dinars, which will be distributed among the top three winners in each category. Certificates of participation will be awarded to those who achieve 75% or above in the final test, along with a raffle and encouraging gifts.
The closing ceremony will be held at the University of Mosul theater, featuring the celebration of the Moslawi scholar Dr. Ahmed Qasim Al-Jummah and the honoring of the schools, colleges, and universities with the highest participation in the competition.
