The College of Science Holds a Workshop on Enhancing Digestive Health and Immunity

 

The Department of Life Sciences at the College of Science held a specialized workshop entitled “The Role of the Human Microbiome in the Digestive System and Immunity” on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. The workshop was attended by a strong participation of professors, lecturers, and undergraduate and postgraduate students. It highlighted the vital relationship between microbial communities in the human body and the efficiency of the immune system as well as the functional performance of the digestive system.

The workshop concluded with a set of scientific recommendations aimed at promoting microbiome health, most notably emphasizing the consumption of fiber-rich foods such as legumes and leafy vegetables, the intake of fermented foods such as yogurt and caviar, and expanding the use of prebiotics. Participants also stressed the importance of limiting the random use of antibiotics and adhering to regular physical exercise as a key factor in maintaining the body’s biological balance.
