Master’s thesis in the Department of Economics discusses “The impact of IMF policies and rules on international trade for selected Arab countries for the period (1990-2020) “Tuesday, October 17, 2023 …

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis entittled “The impact of IMF policies and rules on international trade for selected Arab countries for the period (1990-2020)”.

Part of  discussion was attended by the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.

The current study presented by the student “Mahdi Muhammad Ibrahim” in the Department of Economics aims to identify the extent of the impact of the policies and rules of the International Monetary Fund on international trade, and the research confirmed that the policies of the International Monetary Fund have a negative impact on developing countries, especially Arab ones, as a result of the conditions of the International Monetary Fund that are inconsistent with the reality of Arab countries, which is reflected in their international trade.

The study concluded with several conclusions, the most important of which are: that economic globalization directly and morally affects international trade, and this means that the increase in economic globalization by (1%) leads to an increase in international trade by (2.66%) at a moral level (1%), which is identical to economic theory, and that customs tariffs adversely and morally affect international trade.

The discussion committee was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Khader Abtan, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Jassim from the University of Tikrit, and Assistant Professor Dr. Nizar Siddiq Elias, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Rabah Jamil Al-Khatib.
