The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis tagged “The Role of Monetary Policy in Achieving Financial Maturity: A Study in a Sample of Selected Countries”.
Part of the discussion was attended by the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.
The current study presented by the student “Zainab Wissam Sami” in the Department of Economics mainly aimed to: Analyzing the relationship between the quantitative tools of monetary policy and the criterion of financial maturity in Iraq, the study used annual data in the form of time series for the period (1990-2021), as Iraq witnessed several changes in macroeconomic policies in general and monetary policies in particular, as well as the change in monetary regulations and rules adopted during this period.
The study concluded several conclusions, the most important of which are: The existence of a long-term equilibrium relationship between monetary policy variables and the criterion of financial maturity, as the discount rate is one of the most important variables of monetary policies affecting financial maturity.
The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Hashim Muhammad Abdullah, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Burhan Othman Hussein from the University of Kirkuk, and Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Fadel Hammadi, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Aws Fakhr Al-Din Ayoub.
