The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged “Measuring and analyzing the impact of foreign direct investment on some macroeconomic variables for a sample of developing countries (1990-2019)”.

The discussion was honored by the presence of the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.

The aim of the current study … Analyzed the reality of foreign direct investment and its important role in bridging the deficit in national savings, with the aim of developing economic sectors, the study will analyze and measure the impact of foreign capital flows on some macroeconomic variables for the period (1990-2020) in developing countries using a sample of middle- and high-income countries.

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were:

There is a relationship between inward FDI and macroeconomic variables (domestic investment, GDP, exports, taxes) and by (0.141, 0.216, 0.404, 0.321) respectively, while foreign direct investment abroad was a positive relationship with (domestic investment, GDP, exports, taxes) and by (0.186, 0.169, 0.052, 0.151) respectively.

The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Anmar Amin Haji and the membership of Prof. Dr. Hana Abdel Hussein Muhaimeed ‘Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research / Research and Development Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Mustafa Rashad, Assistant Professor Dr. Nizar Siddiq Elias, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdul Wahab Thanoun Saadoun, and the membership and supervision of Prof. Dr. Saad Mahmoud Al-Kawwaz.
