The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis tagged “The economics of cultivation and production of some agricultural crops in Iraq, reality and prospects for the period (2000-2022)”

This study, which was presented by the student “Ahmed Manhal Abdul-Jabbar Saeed” in the Department of Economics, seeks to develop an agricultural policy to pay attention to the cultivation of crops and their production in quantity and quality and search for ways to develop grain cultivation because it is one of the most important food crops, as Iraq is one of the countries famous for the cultivation of grain crops to provide the elements of its cultivation and agriculture has suffered in the recent period from neglect and lack of interest, which negatively affected the cultivation of these crops and thus the lack of production.

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which are: the weakness of the agricultural sector in many years in the study period as a result of climate factors and the political and security conditions that the country has experienced, as well as the factors of desertification and urban sprawl and the transformation of agricultural land into residential, as well as the policy of dumping in the local agricultural markets due to imports from neighboring countries, and their low prices.

The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Jadoua Shehab Al-Jumaili from the University of Tikrit, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Adeeb Chalabi, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ruqayya Khalaf Hamad, and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Mustafa Rashad.
