The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged “The Role of Sovereign Wealth Funds in the Sustainability of the Agricultural Sector in Some Arab Countries and the Possibility of Using Them in Iraq: A Comparative Econometric Study (1995-2020)”.
Part of it was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.
The current study targeted … Ahmed Mahmoud Habib, a student in the Department of Economics, said that sovereign wealth funds play a crucial role in helping rentier countries manage the challenges associated with their high dependence on natural resources such as the Dutch disease, and external shocks resulting from both low prices and global demand for those resources.
The study reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which are: There is a positive moral relationship between the efficiency of the performance of sovereign wealth funds and the sustainability of the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan,
Canada, Mauritania and Algeria, and the situations of Algeria, Azerbaijan and Mauritania are not much different from the situation in Iraq in terms of agricultural environment.
The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Saad Mahmoud Al-Kawaz, and the membership of Prof. Dr. Basem Hazem Hamid from the University of Baghdad, Assistant Professor Dr. Aws Fakhr Al-Din Ayoub, Assistant Professor Dr. Doaa Noman Al-Husseini, Assistant Professor Dr. Ruqayya Khalaf Hamad, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Mustafa Rashad.
