The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis tagged “Analysis and measurement of the impact of economic and social variables on crime rates – Directorate of Adult Correction and Correctional of Women and Juveniles – Duhok as a model for the period 2008-2022”
Part of it was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman, and the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs.
The current study presented by the student “Awat Muayad Ahmed” in the Department of Economics aims to find out the extent of the impact of some economic and social variables on crime rates in Duhok Governorate using quantitative standard tools to show the impact of these variables and started from the hypothesis that there is an influential relationship between economic and social variables and crime rates in Duhok Governorate during the period 2008-2022.
The study concluded several conclusions, the most important of which are: the adoption of directed economic policies or directed towards targeting inflation rates or reducing unemployment in order to reduce crime rates, as well as social policies related to education and the family, especially encouraging enrollment in primary and secondary schools and reforming the relationship related to building the family and marital status to make divorce the last solution and not the first in the marital relationship.
The discussion committee was headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Adeeb Chalabi, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Hashem Muhammad Saeed Rashid from the University of Zakho, and Assistant Professor Dr. Alaa Wajih Mahdi, under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Khader Abtan.
