Meeting of the Dean of the College with the guidance and awareness officials in the scientific departments
Within the framework of the scientific activities organized by the Counseling Unit at the College of Administration and Economics, the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman, met with the officials of counseling and psychological awareness in the scientific departments, in the presence of the official of the Scientific Affairs Division, on Monday, November 4, 2024.
The meeting discussed a number of important topics, most notably:
1. Preparing periodic reports: The importance of preparing weekly and monthly reports by members of the Guidance Unit was emphasized, to evaluate activities and follow up on directives regularly.
2. Combating poverty and supporting needy students: They discussed ways to provide support to needy students, and develop social solidarity initiatives to ensure a comfortable learning environment for all.
3. Drug Awareness: The meeting dealt with the need to educate students about the dangers of drugs, and the importance of monitoring and enhancing behavioral guidelines in this field.
4. Periodic meetings and visiting the student dormitory: The importance of holding periodic meetings with students, especially students of the internal departments, was discussed in addition to field visits to female students’ housing and student complexes.
5. Preparing records and distributing guidance posters: The meeting agreed on the need to prepare a documentary record of counseling activities, and to print and publish guidance posters, to guide students towards positive behaviors on campus.
6. Activating the role of the psychological counselor: The importance of activating the role of the psychological counselor in the college was discussed, and the number of cases that receive psychological support to provide better counseling services was discussed.
7. Training courses for committees: He stressed the need to organize specialized training courses for committee members, to develop their abilities in dealing with students and provide guidance more effectively.
The meeting concluded by stressing the importance of following up the implementation of these recommendations to enhance the role of the Counseling Unit in providing psychological and social support to students, and enhancing their awareness of the importance of positive behaviors at the university.
