The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed a doctoral thesis entitled “Trends of financial development indicators in Arab countries and their impact on some macroeconomic variables”

Part of it was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and a number of faculty members and students of the college.

This study, presented by the student “Haseeb Nayel Abdullah” in the Department of Economics, seeks to: Attempt to review and provide a comprehensive vision of the theoretical and experimental frameworks that support the interpretation and analysis of the mechanisms and channels through which financial development can exert its effects on macroeconomic variables, leading to the exploration of an experimental quantitative model to diagnose the type, value and direction of the effects that financial development indicators can exert on banking institutions.

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which was: The banking assets ratio index has a direct effect on the inflation rate, exchange rates, unemployment rates, poverty, and foreign trade, and inversely with economic growth. The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Saad Mahmoud Al-Kawaz, and the membership of Professor Dr. Hussein Shanawa Majeed from Wasit University, Assistant Professor Dr. Mayada Salah Al-Din Taj Al-Din, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Fadhel Hammadi, Assistant Professor Dr. Adi Salem Ali, and under the supervision and membership of Professor Dr. Bashar Ahmed Al-Iraqi.
