The Department of Banking and Financial Sciences at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis tagged “The impact of the structure of bank deposits on the profitability of Islamic banks operating in a sample of Arab countries – with special reference to Iraq”. The aim of the current study submitted by the student “Nadia Abdul Ghani Qassem” in the Department of Financial and Banking Sciences is to determine the impact of the structure of bank deposits on the profitability of Islamic banks operating in a group of Arab countries, with the study sample represented by Islamic banks operating in Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia. The study concluded with the most important findings: that the ratio of current deposits to total deposits had a positive impact on the profitability of Saudi and Jordanian Islamic banks, expressed in the return on assets and return on equity, while its impact was inverse and significant on the profitability of Iraqi Islamic banks.
The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Ali Kurdi from the University of Tikrit, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Laila Abdel Karim Mohamed, and Assistant Professor Dr. Harith Ghazi Thanoun Al-Dabbagh, and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Saja Abdul Ghani Qasim.
