A doctoral thesis at the University of Mosul examines the role of the strategic leader in the success of strategic alliances through individual capabilities and strategic awareness.

A doctoral thesis entitled:
“The Role of Individual Capabilities and Patterns of Strategic Awareness of the Strategic Leader in Enhancing the Success Factors of Strategic Alliances: An Analytical Study of the Opinions of a Sample of Faculty Members at the University of Mosul” was discussed at the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul on Monday, April 7, 2025. The thesis was submitted by Karam Tawfiq Muhammad Abdullah, a student in the Department of Business Administration.
This thesis aims to analyze the vital role played by the individual capabilities of the strategic leader, along with their patterns of strategic awareness, in enhancing the success factors of strategic alliances within the higher education environment, represented by the University of Mosul. The researcher chose the University of Mosul as the field of study, based on the university’s clear strides in the field of scientific and strategic alliances, under the leadership of the University President, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, who was considered a model of the strategic leader within the analytical framework of the study.
The researcher relied on the descriptive-analytical approach in preparing his thesis. (380) questionnaires were distributed to university faculty members, and (362) valid questionnaires were retrieved for analysis. These questionnaires included a diverse purposive sample of faculty members from (15) colleges at the university. SPSS and AMOS software were used to analyze the data and extract statistical relationships.
The study reached a set of results, including: the presence of significant and positive effects of both individual capabilities and patterns of strategic awareness on the success factors of strategic alliances, both individually and collectively. The results also confirmed the importance of strategic leaders possessing personal, cognitive, and proactive skills that enhance the chances of success of academic partnerships and institutional alliances.

At the conclusion of the discussion, the committee commended the researcher’s efforts and the importance of his topic and awarded him a doctorate with merit, wishing him continued success in his academic and scientific career.
