The President of the University of Mosul supervises a doctoral thesis on the use of artificial intelligence in developing actuarial calculations.

The University of Mosul witnessed on Monday, April 14, 2025, a discussion of a doctoral thesis in the Department of Accounting at the College of Administration and Economics. The thesis was titled:
“Using Artificial Intelligence to Develop Actuarial Calculations and Its Role in Improving the Quality of Financial Reports: An Applied Study in an Iraqi Insurance Company.” The thesis was submitted by student Zeina Abdul Sattar Jabr.
Part of the thesis was attended by the Dean of the College, Professor Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman, and his assistants for academic and administrative affairs. The discussion was also honored by the presence of Assistant Professor Dr. Wissam Nemat Al-Saadi, Dean of the College of Law.
The study aims to: develop actuarial calculations and enhance their role in improving the quality of financial reports by leveraging artificial intelligence technologies, thus contributing to supporting the efficiency and accuracy of forecasting and calculation processes in the insurance sector.
The thesis reached a number of important conclusions, the most prominent of which was that the introduction of artificial intelligence into actuarial calculations represents a qualitative shift in this field, given its role in increasing the efficiency of operations and improving the accuracy of results, which positively impacts the quality of financial reports in insurance companies.
The discussion was held under the supervision and attendance of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, who praised the researcher’s efforts and the importance of the topic in keeping pace with technological developments in the financial and accounting fields.
