A PhD Dissertation in the Department of Economics Discusses: “Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on Agricultural Trade in Selected Developing Countries for the Period 1990–2022” Thursday, June 19, 2025

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul – discussed the PhD dissertation titled:
“Measuring and Analyzing the Impact of Macroeconomic Variables on Agricultural Trade in Selected Developing Countries for the Period 1990–2022.”

The current study, submitted by the student Rahhal Subhi Qasim Al-Taie from the Department of Economics, aimed to estimate and analyze the impact of several macroeconomic variables on agricultural exports, imports, and total agricultural trade in a sample of developing countries, including (Iraq, Egypt, Turkey, and Thailand) during the period 1990–2022.

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which was that macroeconomic variables have contributed to the removal of international tariff and banking restrictions, turning the world into a single market in which state intervention mechanisms have diminished and economic freedom prevails.

The discussion committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Basim Hazim Hameed from the University of Baghdad, and included as members: Prof. Dr. Qais Nadhim Ghazal from the College of Agriculture and Forestry – University of Mosul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Alaa Wajih Mahdi, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ruqayya Khalaf Hamad, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Hisham Sabah, with Asst. Prof. Dr. Iman Mustafa Rashad as both a member and the supervisor.
