“The Department of Economics at the University of Mosul Discusses a Master’s Thesis on the Implications of Global Innovation and Its Role in Stimulating Economic Growth” on Monday, August 18, 2025

The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul hosted the discussion of the master’s thesis titled: “The Impact of Global Innovation Indicators on Economic Growth in Selected Countries”, submitted by the student Hiba Ahmed Aref Al-Shahwani.
The study aimed to analyze the dimensions of the relationship between innovation and economic growth through multiple channels, with a particular focus on the four main innovation indicators and their implications for economic performance in a group of European and Asian countries during the period (2007–2022).
The findings revealed that innovation is a key driver of long-term sustainable development. A mutual causal relationship was confirmed between innovation and economic growth: higher levels of innovation lead to enhanced growth, while increased financial allocations directed toward research and development contribute to improving sustainable development indicators in general.

This study aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), as it highlights the importance of innovation as a cornerstone for enhancing the efficiency of national economies and achieving inclusive and sustainable growth.
