The College of Administration and Economics Launches Its First Artistic Course in Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation in Cooperation with the College of Fine Arts

Under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics at the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jameel, and within the framework of enhancing joint artistic cooperation among the university’s colleges, the Student Activities Division (Art Unit) at the College of Administration and Economics organized its first artistic course in cooperation with the College of Fine Arts at the University of Mosul, entitled “Learning Arabic Calligraphy and Ornamentation.”
The course started on Sunday, 30/11/2025, and lasted until Thursday, 4/12/2025, under the supervision of the calligraphy instructor Mustafa Abdulnasser Ismail, with the participation of a number of the college’s students.
The course focused on emphasizing the importance of Arabic calligraphy as one of the most important means of artistic expression through ornamentation and manuscripts, as it highlights the cultural identity of the Arabic language. It also contributes to developing essential skills in learners such as concentration, patience, and aesthetic taste. In addition, the students were introduced to various styles of Arabic calligraphy that keep pace with modern developments in the fields of design and printing used in contemporary life.
At the conclusion of the course, an evaluation test was conducted for the participating students to measure the level of practical and scientific benefit gained from the course topics, reflecting the college’s keenness to support artistic activities and develop students’ skills alongside their academic journey.
