Promoting Sustainable Development Goal 5: The College of Administration and Economics Organizes an Awareness Lecture on Gender Equality in Education and Decision-Making

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics, Prof. Dr. Sinan Zuhair Mohammed Jamil, and in cooperation with the Human Rights Division of the University Presidency, the Human Rights Unit at the College of Administration and Economics held an awareness lecture for college students entitled: “Gender Equality in Education, Choice, and Decision-Making.”

The lecture addressed the concept of gender equality in various areas of public life, explaining the role of international frameworks and conventions in consolidating this principle. It also highlighted the main challenges that hinder its achievement and discussed a number of practical solutions to enhance fair participation in education and decision-making.

The lecturer emphasized the importance of Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5), which focuses on achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls, considering it one of the fundamental pillars for achieving comprehensive development and building more just and sustainable societies.

This activity comes as part of the ongoing efforts of the College of Administration and Economics to promote a culture of human rights, raise awareness of the values of equality and justice, and entrench them within the university environment, thus contributing to preparing a conscious generation capable of making positive contributions in serving society.
