The College of Administration and Economics – University of Mosul / Department of Business Administration Discusses a PhD Dissertation on Authentic Leadership, Quality of Work Life, and Deviant Workplace Behavior. The PhD dissertation titled “The Relationship Between Authentic Leadership and Quality of Work Life and Their Impact on Reducing Deviant Workplace Behavior: An Analytical Study of the Opinions of a Sample of Employees in the Northern Cement Directorate / Nineveh” was discussed in the College of Administration and Economics – Department of Business Administration at the University of Mosul on Thursday, December 11, 2025, in Hall No. (1). The dissertation was submitted by the researcher Ahmed Khazaal Mahmoud Ali Al-Juwari.
The aim of the dissertation was to identify the extent to which leaders in the Northern Cement Directorate / Nineveh possess the four dimensions of authentic leadership, as well as the level of quality of work life with its eight dimensions, and their role in reducing deviant workplace behavior among employees—both personal and organizational. The study also sought to analyze the relationship among the three variables to determine the impact of authentic leadership and quality of work life on reducing workplace deviance.
The dissertation reached several conclusions, the most prominent of which indicated that leaders possess a good level of authentic leadership and quality of work life, which effectively contributes to limiting deviant behaviors within the work environment. The results also confirmed the existence of a significant inverse relationship between authentic leadership and quality of work life on one hand, and deviant workplace behavior on the other, emphasizing the importance of adopting authentic leadership practices and enhancing quality of work life to reduce negative behaviors and promote a healthy organizational environment.
