The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged “Investment and the role of financial policies in attracting it – a study in different international experiences”.
The discussion was honored by the presence of the President of the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Qusai Kamal Al-Din Al-Ahmadi, the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Munir Salem Taha, the Assistant President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Prof. Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Thair Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman.

The aim of the current study … Which was submitted by the student “Saber Muhammad Qadir” in the Department of Economics to analyze the relationship between fiscal policy and investment and to identify the nature of the relationship between financial policies and their role in attracting domestic and foreign investment as a necessary matter to rationalize the economic policies and government financial policy of the selected countries, and to identify the areas to which government support should be directed as a means to push and stimulate investment.
The study reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which were: that financial policy tools can play a dual role in attracting and crowding out domestic and foreign investment, based on the efficiency of the country’s fiscal policy, high-income and high-income countries with an efficient fiscal policy were able to control the financial policy tools and direct them in the service of stimulating investment and reducing the impact of crowding, while low-income countries do not have an efficient fiscal policy in using their tools actively and efficiently in attracting investment.

The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Thaer Mahmoud Rashid Al-Ani from the University of Baghdad and the membership of Prof. Dr. Hashim Muhammad Al-Arkob, Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Khader Abtan, Assistant Professor Dr. Uday Salem Ali, Assistant Professor Dr. Nizar Siddiq Elias, and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Ibrahim Adeeb Chalabi.
