The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the master’s thesis tagged “The impact and analysis of direct taxes on economic performance in selected Arab countries with reference to Iraq”

Part of it was attended by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Thaeir Ahmed Saadoon Al-Samman, and the Dean’s assistants for scientific and administrative affairs.

The current study presented by the student “Anwar Abdul Haq Ahmed” in the Department of Economics aimed to: Despite the pride of financial literature from many writings that dealt with the subject of taxes, there is still an urgent need to be familiar with many aspects related to taxes and their impact on economic performance, especially direct taxes in light of the economic and financial challenges facing the global economy as a reflection of international developments accompanied by the fragility of financial conditions, high debt rates and tightening monetary policy by raising interest rates to alleviate Global high inflation rates.

The study concluded several conclusions, the most important of which are: that the budget deficit in Iraq was the lowest among the countries of the study sample, and on the contrary, it ranked first in achieving fiscal deficit rates as a percentage of GDP.

The discussion committee was headed by Assistant Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Hamid Al-Abdali from Nolej University, and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Uday Salem Ali, and Assistant Professor Mrs. Rafah Adnan Najm, under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Hashim Muhammad Al-Arkub.
