The Department of Economics at the College of Administration and Economics, University of Mosul, discussed the doctoral thesis tagged “Measuring and analyzing some macroeconomic variables in attracting foreign direct investment to selected countries for the period (1990-2020).

The current study presented by the student “Zuhair Hamed Turki” in the Department of Economics aimed to: that foreign direct investment is one of the most important ways or sources of financing for large projects with modern and advanced technology for the developing and developed countries alike, so interest in it includes all countries that are looking for growth and prosperity in all sectors, so the countries have dissected the laws that facilitate the entry of investments to them and provide incentives and facilities to attract those investments.

The study reached a number of conclusions, the most prominent of which were: the existence of joint integration, and the most important recommendations concluded by the study The need to give countries importance to macroeconomic variables of their relationship and their role in attracting foreign direct investment, as for Iraq to benefit from the experiences of ASEAN countries as well as not to rely on one source of revenue, which is oil.

The discussion committee was headed by Prof. Dr. Hashim Muhammad Al-Arkoub and the membership of Prof. Dr. Nazhan Muhammad Suhu from the University of Samarra, Assistant Professor Dr. Iman Mustafa Rashad, Assistant Professor Dr. Saadoun Hussein Farhan and Assistant Professor Dr. Anmar Ghaleb Kulaib from the University of Tikrit and the membership and supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdullah Khader Abtan.
