Historical overview of the Department of Banking and Financial Sciences

The Department of Banking and Financial Sciences was established in the academic year 1995/1996 and is the first department to be established in this specialization at the level of official Iraqi universities.The alumni of this department are more than 1700 students gratuate from the department since its establishment until the academic year 2022/2023 from the morning studies and more than 300 students from the evening studies at the bachelor’s level, and more than 80 students from the master’s stage, And more than 20 male and female students who graduated from the Diploma in Finance and Banking.

The department currently includes 28 teachers specialized in financial and banking sciences who hold doctorates and master’s degrees.

The Department of Banking and Financial Sciences aims to:

Providing the public and private sectors with specialized cadres in financial and banking sciences, especially financial and banking institutions operating in the country.
Preparing research and studies in the financial and banking aspects and fields.
Enhancing cooperation between the department and the community by organizing development courses for staff working in the field of financial and banking disciplines in state departments and the private sector
