A Scientific Field Visit for Postgraduate Students to the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research .

On Monday, April 20, 2026, the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research received postgraduate students from the Department of Field Crops, College of Agriculture and Forestry, on a scientific visit to the Center. During the visit, Assistant Lecturer Nawaf Jassim Mohammed delivered a scientific lecture in which he presented the nature of the Center’s work and its role in supporting agricultural scientific research. He also explained the mechanisms for implementing conservation agriculture techniques in addressing the environmental and climatic challenges facing the agricultural sector.
The visit further included a field tour of the Center’s laboratories, where the students were introduced to a range of modern devices, equipment, and machinery available at the Center. These facilities are utilized in the application of sustainable agriculture techniques and in conducting studies and research related to soil and crop management in arid and semi-arid environments.
This visit aims to enhance the practical skills of students and to connect them with the applied aspects of conservation agriculture, thereby contributing to the preparation of qualified agricultural professionals capable of addressing future agricultural challenges and supporting the agricultural sector.
This activity is aligned with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
-
Goal 2 (Zero Hunger): by promoting sustainable agricultural systems that increase productivity while conserving natural resources.
-
Goal 4 (Quality Education): by providing applied learning opportunities and linking students with scientific research.
-
Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): through the adoption of conservation agriculture practices that reduce waste and preserve resources.
-
Goal 13 (Climate Action): by promoting agricultural practices that contribute to mitigating the impacts of climate change and conserving soil and water resources.
