A Scientific Field Visit for First-Year Students from the Department of Field Crops to the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research.

On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research (C.AFCAR) welcomed first-year students from the Department of Field Crops, College of Agriculture and Forestry, University of Mosul, as part of the Biodiversity course, in a scientific field visit aimed at introducing students to the latest agricultural technologies and modern farming practices.
This visit was organized within the framework of ongoing cooperation between academic institutions and research centers. The students were received by Assist. Lect. Ammar Habib Mahmoud, a researcher at the Center, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on the Center’s activities and its role in advancing arid and conservation agriculture practices, particularly in light of climate challenges and water scarcity.
The visit also included a field tour of the experimental fields and research laboratories, during which the students were introduced to the Center’s major research projects, including crop productivity improvement and the application of modern soil management and conservation techniques.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between the theoretical knowledge acquired in classrooms and practical applications in research fields and laboratories. It also sought to familiarize students with the nature of research center activities and their role in developing the agricultural sector, particularly in the fields of arid and conservation agriculture.
This scientific visit aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Goal 2 (Zero Hunger), Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
