“Movable Seed Cleaning Plant: Components and Calibration” A Workshop at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research.

Under the patronage of Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, Chancellor of the University of Mosul, and under the supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research, and in cooperation with the Department of Studies and Planning / Sustainable Development Unit at the University Presidency, the Center organized a workshop on Monday, 11 May 2026, entitled “Movable Seed Cleaning Plant: Components and Calibration.”
The workshop was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ahmed Ibrahim Abd, Agricultural Engineer Ashraf Ghanem Bashir, Agricultural Engineer Ibrahim Haider Yahya, Agricultural Engineer Karam Ahmed Fathi, Senior Agricultural Engineer Yahya Abdulrahman Mutlaq, and Agricultural Engineer Omar Jassim Mohammed.
The Movable Seed Cleaning Plant at the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research is regarded as one of the key scientific facilities contributing to the advancement of the agricultural sector and the improvement of crop quality. The plant is responsible for scientifically preparing seeds in a manner that ensures their purity and productive efficiency prior to their distribution to farmers or utilization in research programs.
The workshop aimed to highlight the importance of the Movable Seed Cleaning Plant at the Center and to demonstrate its role in enhancing seed quality and improving agricultural production efficiency through modern cleaning and calibration processes. It also sought to explain the main components of the plant and the operational mechanisms of the equipment used in seed separation and cleaning processes. Furthermore, the workshop emphasized the significance of precise calibration in ensuring the production of pure, highly viable seeds that effectively support scientific research programs, promote arid farming and conservation agriculture practices, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development.
This workshop aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
SDG 13: Climate Action
SDG 15: Life on Land
