The meeting discussed the Center’s work plan and research programs for 2026–2027, mechanisms for implementing research projects and field experiments, the development of scientific, training, and consultancy activities, as well as strengthening cooperation and partnerships with academic and research institutions and relevant agricultural authorities.
The Board also discussed directing research efforts toward the major agricultural and environmental challenges facing dry and semi-arid regions, particularly drought and water scarcity, land degradation and desertification, rangeland restoration, conservation of biodiversity and genetic resources, and improving the efficiency of natural resource use.
The Board emphasized the importance of utilizing the scientific expertise and specialized capabilities of the Center’s staff and activating their role in implementing priority research programs and projects.
These efforts aim to strengthen the Center’s contribution to supporting the agricultural sector and providing practical scientific solutions that serve the community.
The meeting comes within the framework of the University of Mosul commitment to promoting scientific research, innovation, and sustainable development, and is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
