On July 16, 2026, the Board of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research at the University of Mosul held an extraordinary meeting chaired by Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center, with the attendance of all Board members. The meeting addressed several items on its agenda, with particular emphasis on reviewing and discussing the recommendations issued during the first meeting of the Ministerial Biodiversity Team at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

  The Board discussed mechanisms for implementing the recommendations relevant to the Center’s activities and explored ways to align its research programs with Iraq’s National Biodiversity Targets, thereby strengthening the Center’s role in supporting the National Biodiversity Strategy and promoting the sustainable conservation of natural resources.

  The meeting also addressed several scientific and administrative matters related to the implementation of the Center’s research plan, as well as strategies for enhancing research programs and expanding collaboration with academic and research institutions. These efforts aim to improve institutional performance and advance the Center’s strategic objectives.

  The Board emphasized the importance of integrating the Center’s research activities with national priorities in biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of natural resources, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
