The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research (C.AFCAR) has participated in the Extension Activity on the Role of Conservation Agriculture in Supporting Barley Crop Production.

Dr. Adnan A. A. Luhaib (Head of Scientific Affairs at the AFCAR Center – University of Mosul), participated on Sunday, April 26, 2026, in an extension activity addressing the importance of conservation agriculture (no-till farming) in improving the production of forage barley. The event was titled “The Importance of Conservation Agriculture (No-till Farming) for the Production of Forage Barley.” It was organized in coordination with the Conservation Agriculture Station, the Directorate of Agriculture of Nineveh / Agricultural Extension Department, and the Local Union of Agricultural Associations.

The activity featured an overview of the most prominent modern techniques used in no-till farming and their role in reducing production costs, preserving soil moisture, increasing resource use efficiency, and improving the productivity of forage barley in arid and semi-arid environments. The event also saw active engagement from farmers and interested participants, emphasizing the importance of adopting these sustainable agricultural practices to address climate challenges and enhance food security.

Participants stressed the need for continued collaboration between research and extension institutions to support the dissemination of conservation agriculture techniques and expand their application to serve the agricultural sector in Nineveh Governorate.
