Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research (C.AFCAR) Actively Participates in University Sustainability Week.

As part of supporting scientific efforts toward environmental sustainability, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmood Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul, inaugurated the activities of the University Sustainability Week on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The event will continue for two days with broad participation from colleges and centers, including the AFCAR Center.
The Center’s participation included a number of scientific and awareness activities focused on the importance of adopting conservation agriculture and dryland farming techniques to help address the challenges of climate change and water scarcity. Center researchers also showcased their key research projects aimed at improving water use efficiency, preserving soil fertility, and increasing agricultural production in a sustainable manner.
The Center’s pavilion attracted students and interested visitors, who received detailed explanations of the latest methods and technologies used in sustainable agriculture, in addition to the distribution of educational brochures to enhance environmental awareness.
Organizers of the event emphasized that this participation aligns with the Center’s vision to strengthen collaboration with academic institutions and spread a culture of sustainability in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, thereby contributing to the service of the local community.
