Field Visit by the Staff of the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research to the Fields of Ninawa Agricultural Preparatory School.

As part of the ongoing research activities and continuous field follow-up programs, a specialized team headed by Assistant Professor Dr. Maan Mohammed Saleh from the Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research conducted a field visit on Monday and Tuesday, 11–12 May 2026, to the fields of the Ninawa Agricultural Preparatory School to monitor research experiments on faba bean and barley crops conducted as part of the Center’s research program.
The visit aimed to collect several field and physiological parameters for both crops, including growth measurements, plant density, plant height, and the number of pods or spikes, in addition to evaluating the plants’ tolerance to prevailing environmental conditions. This was carried out within the framework of studies aimed at improving agricultural production efficiency in arid and semi-arid regions.
Members of the research team emphasized that such field visits contribute significantly to strengthening scientific cooperation between research institutions and the agricultural education sector. They also provide accurate data that support the evaluation of crop varieties and modern agricultural technologies employed in the Center’s experimental programs.
For its part, the administration of the Nineveh Agricultural Preparatory School expressed its strong cooperation in implementing and monitoring the field experiments, praising the Center’s role in supporting the agricultural sector and advancing sustainable farming practices in line with the requirements of food security and agricultural development in the province.
This visit forms part of a series of research and extension activities carried out by the Center with the aim of developing strategic crops and enhancing agricultural production efficiency through the use of modern technologies and conservation agriculture practices.
The visit aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 13: Climate Action
SDG 15: Life on Land
