The Center for Arid Farming and Conservation Agriculture Research received Mrs. Sura Tariq Thunoon, Director of the Agricultural Extension and Training Center in Nineveh, on Sunday, 17 May 2026, during a visit aimed at strengthening mutual cooperation between the two institutions and reviewing the most prominent research and extension activities contributing to the development of the agricultural sector in Nineveh Province. The visit also included attending the scientific workshop organized by the Center entitled “Rural Development Between Past and Present.”

   She was welcomed by Professor Dr. Mohammed Subhi Mustafa Al-Taweel, Director of the Center, who accompanied her on a field tour during which she was introduced to the Center’s departments and research activities related to arid farming, conservation agriculture, and modern technologies adopted in soil and water resource management.

  The visit also included a tour of the experimental fields and research laboratories, where the guest reviewed the Center’s major projects, including crop productivity improvement and the application of modern methods for soil management and conservation.

   During the meeting, the guest emphasized the importance of integration between research and extension institutions in supporting sustainable agricultural development, praising the scientific efforts undertaken by the Center in advancing modern agricultural practices and addressing environmental and climatic challenges.

   This visit comes within the framework of strengthening institutional partnerships and exchanging scientific expertise in ways that positively contribute to the development of the agricultural sector, the enhancement of food security, and the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including:
