Viva for the Student Hazar M. Ahmed for the degree of Master titled (Unpublished Cuneiform Tablets from the era of Third Ur kept at Alulimaneya Museum)

On Thursday 13/2/2020, Viva for the Student Hazar M. Ahemd/ Department of Iraqi Ancient Languages for the degree of Master titled (Unpublished Cuneiform Tablets from the era of Third Ur kept at Alulimaneya Museum). It was held at Abey Tamam Hall of College of Education. The panel of viva included the following:

  • Dr. Muyad Mohammed Suliman as a Chairman
  • Dr. Nawala Ahmed Mahmood as a member
  • Prof. Dr. Khalid Haidar Othamn as a member
  • Khalid Salim Ismaeel as a supervisor and memberProf. Dr. Muneer Salim Taha Administrative Asst. of President of University of Mosul and Asst. Prof. Dr. Yasameen Abdulkareem Mohammed Ali Dean of College of Archaeology attended the viva. The dissertation concluded many issues as the following:
    1. The case study of texts dates back to the era of Ur third and within the reign of King Amar-Sin (2046-2038) B.C as well as the reign of king Abee-Sin (2026-2002) B.C. which means that the dates of cuneiform texts covered a time span of the last three kings who ruled Ur Third.
    2. Although the texts were preserved in Alsulimaniya Museum but they are from the city of Iriey-Sakrik and this was based on the monthly calendar written inside the texts.
    3. Within these texts, there is an important person of a Merchant called Uliam-Ma who was one of the important merchants during the reign of king Shoo-Sin.
    4. The texts also showed a number of professions and jobs that were common in Ur. Third.In addition, Dr. Muneer welcomed Prof. Dr. Nawala from Baghdad University/ College of Arts/ Dept. of Archaeology at University of Mosul and also passes Dr. Qusai Greetings. The student passed his viva successfully.
