General Formulas of the Contents of Modern Assyrian Royal Texts (911-612 BC) in Light of Cuneiform Sources.

Master Thesis DiscussionThe master’s thesis for the M.A student (Bariq Laith Ahmed) was discussed on Thursday morning, 30/6/2022 in Abi Tammam hall. The title of the thesis is (General Formulas for the Contents of Modern Assyrian royal texts (911-612 BC) in the light of cuneiform sources.The royal writings are official writings that include news of the kings and their most important urban and military achievements. They are also among the most accurate and eloquent writings that we have received because they were written by hands with great skill because they are carried out under the direct supervision of the king. These texts were also written mainly to glorify the king himself.The contents of the texts included constructive, dedication and votive texts, texts of the Annals, as well as texts of the treaty, as well as the royal grants and istikharah texts. The researcher explained the formula of each of these texts, what it contains, and clarified the differences between the types of texts.
