A master’s thesis in the College of Archeology titled (unpublished economic cuneiform texts from the Iraqi Museum – the era of Ur III)

On Monday, March 27, 2023, the Department of Iraqi Ancient Languages at the College of Archaeology/ University of Mosul discussed the master’s thesis entitled (unpublished economic cuneiform texts from the Iraqi Museum – the third era of Ur), the viva was held at the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf in the college of archaeology and it was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, assistant dean of the college for scientific affairs, and a number of college staff and students.

The thesis that was presented by the student (Ahmed Waad Allah Ahmed) from the Department of Iraqi Ancient Languages and it dealt with (unpublished economic cuneiform texts from the Iraqi Museum – the era of Ur III). The thesis dealt with 21 unpublished cuneiform texts preserved in the Iraqi Museum, which are among the confiscated texts that entered the Iraqi Museum between the years (2020-2021), and that these texts dated to the era of Ur III (2112-2004) BC. They belong to four kings (Shulki, Amar-Sin, Shu-Sin, Abi-Sin)

The thesis concluded that the texts date back to the cities of Dirhem and Iri-Sark, according to the actual formulas contained in them, the names of the months and personal names ( mu-DU , Šu ba-ti , i3-la2) and set the date of the texts to (2058-2026) BC.

 The discussion/ viva committee was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Ari Khalil Kamel from Salah Al-Din University/ College of Arts/ Department of Archeology and the membership of both Assistant Professor Dr. Mahmoud Hamed Ahmed and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Shaima Walid Abdel Rahman, membership and supervision of Mr. Khaled Salem Ismail
