A master’s thesis in the College of Archaeology discussing (the impact of the natural environment on the civilization of ancient Greece)

On Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf in the college, the Department of Civilization at the College of Archaeology/ University of Mosul discussed a master’s thesis entitled (The Impact of the Natural Environment on the Civilization of Ancient Greece). Part of the viva was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Yasmin Abdul Kareem Muhammad Ali / Dean of the College of Archeology and a number of college staff and students of the college.

The thesis presented by the student (Bahaa Taha Suleiman) dealt with the study of the relationship between the natural environment of Greece and the Greek man, and all that was reported by the Greeks about that environment, in addition to all the historical importance it carried.

The study tackled harnessing the natural environment to serve history and the extent of benefiting from it in proving what can be proven about many historical aspects.

The study aims to observe the importance of the natural environment in human life, which has no limits, and that the relationship between it and man is eternal and close, and that each of them has an impact on the other, and that the amount of this impact varies between the two sides. The role of man and his impact on the environment is increasing until he is almost the master in it, and both cases can be seen in the civilization of Greece.

The discussion/ viva committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Mahdia Faisal Saleh / University of Baghdad College of Education Ibn Rushd / Department of History with the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Khalaf Zaidan Khalaf and Assistant Professor Dr. Moaz Habash Khader and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Elias Sultan.
