A doctoral thesis at the College of Archeology discussing (formulas of modern Babylonian contracts – a comparative study with formulas of modern Assyrian contracts (911-539) BC)

On Thursday, May 25/ 2023, in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf in the college, the Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages at the College of Archeology at the University of Mosul discussed the doctoral thesis formulas of modern Babylonian contracts – a comparative study with formulas of modern Assyrian contracts (911-539) BC). Part of it was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, Assistant Lecturer Khalis Abdul Karim Farman, and a number from college staff and postgraduate students.

The study presented by the student (Rana Walid Fathi) dealt with the formulas of modern Babylonian contracts – a comparative study with the formulas of modern Assyrian contracts (911-539) BC. M and knowledge of the nature of economic and social systems in Iraqi society during the first millennium BC

The study dealt with the extrapolation and analysis of cuneiform texts, which included models of modern Babylonian and Assyrian contracts that included daily economic and social life published in various foreign book series and articles.

The aim of the study is to develop a scientific curriculum that can be used in teaching students about the Modern Babylonian contracts, given the importance they represent as they reflect an important historical era in Mesopotamia.

The discussion committee was chaired by Emeritus professor Dr. Ali Yassin Ahmed, and the membership of Professor Dr. Muhammad Abd al-Ghani Abd al-Rahman, Assistant Professor Dr. Amin Abd al-Nafi Amin, Assistant Professor Dr. Muhannad Khalaf Jamin, Tikrit University, College of Arts, Department of Archaeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Moaz Habash Khadr, and under the supervision and membership of Prof. Dr. Safwan Sami Saeed.
