A master’s thesis at the College of Archaeology discussing (Tal Afar in ancient times (from prehistoric times to the end of the ancient Babylonian era))

The Department of Civilization at the College of Archaeology at the University of Mosul discussed the master’s thesis entitled (Tal Afar in Ancient Times (from prehistoric times to the end of the ancient Babylonian era)) on Sunday, September 10, 2023 at the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Soph in the college. Part of the thesis was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil/ Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs and a number of college staff.

The study presented by the student (Ali Abdel Rahim Abdel Karim) dealt with the archaeological sites in the Tal Afar region from the prehistoric era to the end of the ancient Babylonian era, as their history dates back to the Paleolithic era, based on the information provided by the results of archaeological excavations about the lives of the inhabitants of the sites in the Tal Afar region. The ancients and the level of civilization of its sites.

The study aims to explain the importance of the topic and the available information from plans, temples, archaeological finds, and cuneiform texts from the ancient Babylonian era discovered in one of the archaeological sites.

The study dealt with the most important archaeological sites in Tal Afar, the excavations and their results, and their results in the field of agriculture, architecture, art, and religion.

The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Dr. Hussein Dhaher Hammoud and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Hussein Youssef Hazem/ University of Mosul/ College of Arts/ Department of History and Assistant Professor Dr. Jassim Abbas Mohsen/ Al-Hamdaniya University/ College of Education/ Department of History and under the supervision and membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Abdulaziz Elias Sultan.
