A workshop entitled (a historical overview of the Syriac language)
On Monday 13/11/2023, the Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages at the College of Archeology/ University of Mosul held the workshop entitled (A historical overview of the Syriac language) . This workshop was delivered by Abbot/ bishop Dr. Al-Khor, Youssef Bahu Shahara, Professor of the Bible and Ancient Languages at the College of Babylon and Theology in Erbil, and a Visiting Professor of the Syriac Language at the Pontifical Urban University in the Vatican/ Rome. The workshop was in the presence and supervision of the Dean of the College of Archeology, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali. The workshop was held in the hall of Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Soph in the College and part of which was attended by Assistant Professor Dr. Rawa Boutros Boulos/ Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at the Presidency of the University of Mosul and Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Moaz Habash Khadr, Head of the Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages, and a number of college staff, employees, and students
The workshop focused on the history of that language, the places of its spread, the alphabet in which it was written, and the dialects that emerged from it, indicating that it is considered the language of sciences, arts, and literature in many cities.
