A workshop at the College of Archeology entitled “Professional Ethics and Archaeological Work”

The Department of Archeology at the College of Archeology/ University of Mosul held the workshop entitled “Professional Ethics and Archaeological Work,” which was delivered by emeritus professor Dr. Nawala Ahmed Al-Metwally, on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in Dr. Behnam Abu Al-Souf Hall.
Part of the workshop was attended by Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College of Archeology, Scientific Assistant, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil, and a number of college staff of the and students of undergraduate and graduate studies.
The workshop addressed many topics related to the ethics of the archaeological profession, which must be characterized by honesty and care to protect the material artifact when it is discovered, documented, transported, and preserved in the museum. The workshop also addressed the organization of office and field archaeological work in a way that is consistent with the nature of field work and the circumstances surrounding it. The workshop concluded with recommendations aimed at including Laws for the preservation of artifacts and heritage, in addition to professional ethics (honesty and trustworthiness) as a subject of the teaching methodology at the College of Archeology.
In conclusion, the certificate of appreciation was distributed by the Dean of the College of Archeology to the emeritus professor, Dr. Nawala Ahmed Al-Metwally.
