Master’s thesis: Prefixes and suffixes of nouns, verbs and their suffixes in the Akkadian language

The Department of Archaeology/College of Archaeology/University of Mosul discussed the master’s thesis entitled “Prefixes and suffixes of nouns, verbs and their suffixes in the Akkadian language”, which was attended by the Assistant Dean for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Yasser Jaber Khalil
The thesis submitted by the student Nahla Fathi Aziz Taha aimed to count the prefixes and suffixes in the Akkadian language in order to clarify an important aspect of the rules of the Akkadian language including the important parts of speech such as the noun, adjective and verb. The meanings of the parts of speech are not complete without prefixes and suffixes, which are important components of morphology and Akkadian sentence structure. The thesis concluded that the prefixes are the addition of syllables that are located at the beginning of the word, and the derived nouns when adding the prefixes (mu-, me-, mi-) are limited to six nouns, which are (names of place, time and machine, and the active and passive participle, while the prefix (-šu) was represented by the superlative name; As for the suffixes: they are the suffixes that are added to the end of the vocabulary to build a new grammatical formula, including, for example, the circumstances of time and place, and the concept of circumstance in the Akkadian language may not be achieved except through these suffixes.
The discussion committee was chaired by Professor Khaled Salem Ismail and the membership of Assistant Professor Dr. Muhammad Muharab Ali and Assistant Professor Dr. Shaima Nasser Hussein from the University of Baghdad / College of Arts / Department of Archaeology and the membership and supervision of Professor Dr. Zuhair Diaa El-Din Saeed.
The Deanship of the College of Archaeology congratulates the researcher and the supervisor on this scientific achievement.
