College of Archaeology

Under the slogan “Our Archaeological sites and Heritage are a Source of Our National Unity”, the College of Archaeology held its fifth international conference entitled (The Role of Archaeology and Heritage in Protecting Cultural Identity)
Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, and under the supervision and attendance of the President of the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Wahid Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, and with the follow-up of the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, the College of Archaeology/University of Mosul held its fifth international conference on Wednesday and Thursday, December 11-12, 2024, in the Grand University Theater Hall.
The conference program began with a speech by the Dean of the College of Archaeology, Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, and a speech by the Director General of the Research and Development Department at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Lubna Khamis Mahdi, then a documentary film was displayed about the destruction of antiquities, followed by a distinguished presentation by the Iraqi Fashion House that represented the story of Ishtar’s descent, and then honoring the participants and organizers of the conference.
The scientific sessions were held to present the participating researches in four sessions distributed in the Scientific and Literary Forum Hall and Dr. Bahnam Abu Al-Suf Hall in the Faculty of Archaeology building, which covered the conference themes, namely ancient antiquities, ancient languages, Islamic antiquities and heritage, and sustainable development tourism, which included the conference objectives
