Professor Walter Salabaker from the University of Munich gives a lecture at the College of Archaeology. As part of the college of Archaeology scientific activities and in order to build scientific communication with prestigious European universities, the Department of Archaeology at the college hosted Professor Walter Salabaker, Director of the Institute of Assyriological and Hittite Studies at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, to deliver a workshop entitled (AḪUM the Amorite Leader at Umma) in collaboration with Professor Dr. Nawal Ahmed Mahmoud, Emeritus professor at the college. The lecture was delivered to college staff and students, and was attended by Professor Dr. Yasmine Abdel Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the college, on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at ten o’clock in the morning in the Dr. Bahnam Abu Al-Soof Hall. The lecture addressed the introduction of the Amorite leader (governor) AḪUM, the ruler of the city of Umma. This ruler played a major role in the city and was considered one of the most important figures in the city and the first judge. In addition, he received offerings to the gods. All of this was discovered in the civilizational stages through Hollow balls (balla) containing administrative texts. At the conclusion of the lecture, Professor Yasmine Abdel Karim Mohamed Ali, Dean of the College, honored Professor Walter and the participants with a certificate of appreciation and a shield.
