Professor Jonathan Taylor Lectures on the Library of King Ashurbanipal

Under the supervision and follow-up of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Yasmin Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, and within the framework of joint cooperation between Iraqi universities and international museums and building bridges of scientific communication, the College of Archaeology, Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages, University of Mosul, held a scientific lecture on Monday, October 20, 2025, entitled “The Library of King Ashurbanipal – King of the World.” The lecture was delivered by Professor Jonathan Taylor, Curator of the Cuneiform Tablets and Cylinder Seals Department, Middle East Department, British Museum. The lecture was attended by a number of college professors and undergraduate and graduate students. The researcher discussed the importance of cuneiform texts and their role in understanding the history of Mesopotamia. He also mentioned that a number of cuneiform tablets have been uploaded to the British Museum website to be available to researchers and those interested in archaeology and reading cuneiform texts. At the conclusion of the lecture, the researcher was honored by the Dean of the College of Archaeology and the Head of the Department of Ancient Iraqi Languages. This lecture supports the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals: Education. Good and seventeenth goal: Partnerships for the goals.
