Ministerial Committee Visits the College of Archaeology

In implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, a ministerial committee visited the College of Archaeology at the University of Mosul.
The visit took place on Thursday, November 6, 2025. The delegation was received by Professor Dr. Yasmin Abdul Karim Muhammad Ali, Dean of the College, Dr. Iyad Thanoun Younis, Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, and the heads of the scientific departments. The visit aimed to establish a doctoral program in the field of Civilization, specifically Ancient Civilization, within the Department of Civilization. This is possible due to the availability of specialized academic staff in the department who are qualified for teaching and supervision, as well as the desire of students holding a master’s degree in Ancient Civilization to obtain a doctorate. Furthermore, the objectives of establishing this program stem from the interest in Iraq’s ancient heritage and its rich civilization, and the preparation of specialized academic cadres in ancient civilization and their qualification to contribute to Iraqi universities. The visit also included an inspection of the vital facilities that support the educational process within the college, including the computer lab, the college library, and a number of classrooms. This visit reinforces the fourth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education.
